I've had a long running and racing career to this point. All through high school and college there was cross-country and track. I've picked up a lot of awards along the way too but I'm only posting those races I've entered since the time my website went online in Aug '96.

Here are my Personal Records

Drove in on friday, set up camp and got settled, then pre-rode the course. It was a great ride and I felt good. Slept well. The next day was up around 7 after a cold night in my tent although I managed to stay warm. Set up my transition area and warmed up. Everything set, the race started on time and I was off. Around half a mile into the first run I was going up a slight incline and pulled a right calf muscle. Managed to pass several runners while limping along. The transition did not go smoothly and I lost a few places. The bike went great. I passed two in the first mile, then got passed and tried to hang on the wheel. The mountain bike course is sweet at this race. I can't stress that enough. Lots of curves, a couple of creek crossings, a couple of places where you can bomb downhill leading to a jump, gravel, sand, some uphill swithcbacks, and lots of roots. It is one of the better ones I've been on. My calf didn't let me climb bat cave (the huge, steep climb at nine miles). I walked that. The second transition was even slower than the first and I lost several places again. The last run was agony. My whole right leg was tightened up and my left was critical condition from compensating. I could only manage a fast limp but only got passed by two runners. I was totally exhausted at race end. Got 32 of 40 in males and 8 of 8 in my age group. A great day! I'm trying to go back next year for sure. Note: my mountain bike time was a couple of hundredths of a second slower than a team mate in the mountain bike race the next day. I could have beaten him if I hadn't had a 2.5 mile run before and after to worry about... Next year, buddy, next year. Also, Chili's Cajun Chicken Pasta, 'nuf said.

I had about three weeks of training for this race in Cold Spring, TX. I feel rested and ready for some serious athletics once again. I loved this mountain bike race. The experience was awesome and although I thought I could have done better, I did very well for my first TMBRA race. I placed 20 out of 34 and learned some stuff about myself especially on the curves. I am crazier than I would have guessed and I look forward to being more crazy because I can ride much faster now and hope to be much faster in the future. The day was beautiful and the race was great. I'm running too.

Fiesta Run, 2003, 3 Miles

I trained by running about 10 miles a week. Needless to say, I didn't do well. I finished 4th in my age group and was just slowing down the whole time. I ran slower and slower trying to keep a pace. Everyone passed me. Guys I used to leave in the dust passed me. It was very discouraging. I wish I had the resources to train right. I only have money for about 1 O.K.-meal a day. I don't eat right and I know it but I can't afford anything else. I think I'll give up running. Maybe next year.
